The WISTAR project is excited to announce the publication of deliverable D1.1.1. Strategy for implementing green transportation concepts by using inland waterways. This report details a strategy for using inland waterway transport (IWT) to create sustainable logistics solutions for rural businesses. The report includes:
1. Market demand analysis in Germany, France, and Belgium.
2. Evaluation of transportation infrastructure and renewable energy options for IWT.
3. Mapping of transshipment points.
4. Requirements specifications for successful implementation.
Key areas of focus include agrifood logistics in the Ruhr area (Germany), last-mile delivery on the Seine Axis (France), and logistics schemes connecting rural and urban areas in Belgium. The report also explores the use of renewable energies like bioGNC, hydrogen, and electric power for IWT.
