On March 27, 2025, the WISTAR Workshop “Multifunctional Transhipment Hubs: A Key to Emissions-Free Inland Waterway Transport by 2050” took place at the VSL NRW headquarters in Düsseldorf, bringing together experts and stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies for sustainable logistics in the IW of North-West Europe.
The event focused on the development of a new network of energy-efficient transhipment points along inland waterways, served by Class I/II emissions-free vessels. Key topics included market analysis in France, Belgium, and Germany, as well as strategies for implementing green transport solutions.
We sincerely thank all participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement during the discussions. The insights gathered will be incorporated into a comprehensive WISTAR project report.
